Very rare story present: I bought this for $3 from a vendor in a tiny antique store in May 2021. I guess he didn't know what he had. Completely silent, VG++ copy. No hyperbole, one of the best sounding records in my drove. I've got a bunch of Tone Poets, MMJ, AP and MOFI pressings (they are all great) but this is something otherworldly. I really jumped when Pee Wee Marquette started introducing the band, he's right in the room. Clifford Brown is astounding on this.

I had iii Japanese vintage editions of this album at the same time, 1 PROMO, but in comparison with this edition of the Immortal Masterpiece Selection serial, all of them were not even close in sound.

I believe this is actually a mono press and not stereo as listed in the description.

A very loud record but with decent item none the less. The introduction at the offset is particularly amusing. Get this clean and you will have a overnice live tape feel. If you lot desire studio fidelity this might non offer quite that cleanliness, just it withal lets most players be heard, although Pianoforte and Bass are the ones getting the shortest terminate of the stick.

my re-create is highly warped from the centre. i dont go this 75th reissues suck, full of issues, i normally purchase european copies and complain most them, but this United states version really suck. sound is almost OK, a lilliputian bit loftier, but this warp, oh my this warp. attempt to detect other copies, from the early on 80s or 70s, which also has a ameliorate comprehend imho.

Art Blakey is one of the most important figures in Jazz, second just to Miles Davis in bringing through prodigious new talent. Along with Horace Silver he was one of the foremost pioneers of the Hard Bop idiom. This ensemble, which is a forerunner of his Jazz Messengers who produced then many future stars, is particularly strong. It's one of the best examples of Clifford Brown's work, is an splendid document of a alive performance from the time, and is a classic album that belongs in every serious Jazz collection. The CD contains two bonus tracks, and I'm particularly fond of "Blues" which perfectly captures Lou Donaldson's soulful blowing skills.
